Jason Coombs, Experienced Expert Witness

Jason Coombs has 15 years of professional computer experience. At the age of 16 he was contracted to Pac Bell Cellular as the project manager over the development of the nationwide Network Management System. His knowledge of UNIX and networking positioned him to act as an early commerical Internet pioneer in the early 1990s. Mr. Coombs is currently the president of Digital Marketplace, Inc., a computer forensics consulting firm.

In 1994 Mr. Coombs became involved in computer forensics in civil court, and now specializes in the growing computer expert witness field in both civil and criminal cases. He has worked as an expert witness and forensic consultant in large cases involving disputes over as much as a billion dollars of business or property.

Jason Coombs is an innovator of several network communications technologies such as TransferRNA, a Web-based P2P file transfer and messaging system, and check-by-Internet, allowing businesses to accept check payments from customers by way of bank routing number and checking account number information. He is also the creator of the PowerSocket Library, a gateway between earlier versions of PowerBuilder and the Internet TCP/IP programming Windows sockets (Winsock) API.

A past columnist for BYTE and CMP Media's Windows Developer Network, he presently writes a computer security column about Microsoft Windows for Dr. Dobb's Journal
